About The Location

The Shops at Columbus Circle is an iconic mixed-use destination at the gateway to Central Park, combining luxury retail, Michelin-starred dining, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the Mandarin Oriental hotel. With over 40 specialty retailers and sweeping views across Manhattan’s Upper West Side, the center serves as both a neighborhood cornerstone and a cultural landmark. Since opening in 2004, it has drawn locals and visitors seeking world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment under one roof.

About The Project

Center Stage Productions created Holiday Under The Stars for The Shops at Columbus Circle, a large-scale commercial seasonal decor and lighting installation. The project transforms the center’s multi-story Great Room with 300,000 twinkling lights and 44 custom illuminated stars that perform choreographed light shows every 30 minutes from 5PM to midnight. This commercial lighting installation features programmable color-changing stars suspended throughout vertical spaces, with shimmering garlands creating a kaleidoscope backdrop across the atrium. Architectural LED lighting wraps escalators, columns, and storefronts to extend visual impact across all retail zones, while illuminated ornament clusters and custom outdoor lighting elements create natural gathering points that draw visitors through the property. Additional glowing stars suspended throughout the ground floor offer photo-worthy moments that reinforce the center as a must-visit seasonal destination for Upper West Side locals and Manhattan visitors alike.
