This popular shopping destination is decked in over 700,000 led lights and 1 million glittering crystals. It’s also festively wrapped with more than 5 miles of garland which make up the mall’s grand collection of holiday wreaths and bulkhead décor treatments. But best of all, Big Santa, a beloved 42’ icon, proudly waves and welcomes the shoppers who come by the thousands.

About The Location

Garden State Plaza is a super-regional shopping center in Paramus, New Jersey, located at the intersection of Route 4 and Route 17. It includes more than three hundred stores, major department anchors, and a large interior concourse with high ceilings and multi-level sightlines. As one of the highest performing malls in the United States by sales per square foot, it draws consistent year-round traffic from New Jersey and the New York metro area.

About The Project

Center Stage Productions developed a multi-zone seasonal décor installation that transforms both the interior concourse and exterior arrival points into a unified holiday environment. The centerpiece is a custom greenhouse-style Santa House set within a snow-covered landscape of illuminated evergreens. Oversized lanterns, large-format wreaths, and cascading commercial lighting fixtures extend visual impact along sightlines from multiple floors. Inside the greenhouse, the photo environment includes a velvet seating area, a curated mix of illuminated décor, and layered garlands that create depth and texture in every frame.

The installation activates circulation paths and anchor entryways with hanging wreaths suspended from the skylight structure, multi-story ornament light drops, and a high-visibility keystone tree at the atrium. Exterior elements include a multi-story sculptural Santa positioned above the main entrance, providing a visual landmark that is recognizable from the parking approach.

This Christmas holiday installation has evolved into a signature annual event for the property. The “Big Santa Lighting” celebration is now a seven-year+ running tradition, drawing more than 10,000 attendees in 2023 and establishing the installation as a seasonal anchor for foot traffic, repeat visits, and community engagement.
